Development of New Products...my favorite part of being a food scientist

I love to develop new food products, change old ones to meet new goals, or to figure out how to fix something with food. Truth be told I am very passionate about product development. I have been thinking about products that I have had the opportunity to work on in the last 3 years and they include:
  • Dry gravy mix
  • Frozen banana treats
  • Reduced sodium canned vegetable soup
  • Chili Con Carne with Beans
  • Pudding Quakes (pudding that thins to a milk shake consistency when you shake it)
  • Gluten-Free baking mixes
    • Chocolate Cake
    • Yellow Cake
    • Chocolate Chip Cookies
    • Brownies
  • Gordita Bites (hand held ethnic fusion frozen heat and serve appetizers)
  • Reduced Sodium Chicken Soup
  • Peach Spread
  • Naturally Colored Gelatin
  • Low-Fat  Osteo-Health ice cream

The following are just a few of the pictures from all these endeavors.
As I am sometimes quite forgetful about taking pictures, I don't have pictures of a lot of my products. Product development can be really slow for a long time and just when you think you may never solve a problem, bam, something works. It is so exciting to me how everything works together to create the wonderful things that we have to eat. Thank goodness for food, it is a powerful thing!
